Winners Lacrosse Donations

Hi Everyone.

I wanted to bring to everyone's attention a great program that our own Saul Ginns, a 7th Grader at Ottoson, is working on.  It's Winners Lacrosse out of Washington DC.  Saul is collecting used gear for donation to Winners.  Details are below.  Please consider donating equipment to this worthy cause.

Their mission is:  "MAKE LEARNING AND PLAYING LACROSSE AVAILABLE IN THE WASHINGTON, DC METRO AREA TO BOYS AND GIRLS (AGES 5-14), FROM UNDERSERVED NEIGHBORHOODS,
IN A SAFE AND FUN ENVIRONMENT FOR KIDS TO LEARN AND GROW"

A few stats from their website:

Since their inception in 2000, WINNERS has introduced the game of lacrosse to over 10,000 inner city DC youth.

2017 Highlights:

  • Introduced lacrosse to over 1,850 boys and girls

  • 480+ youth players participated on our spring teams with over 85 different DC public and charter schools represented on our rosters

  • Started and operated the first ever Public Elementary School League for boys and girls in Washington, DC with 8 teams participating - 3rd year of the league

  • Operated the first ever Public Middle School League for boys and girls in Washington, DC with 15 teams participating - 4th year of the league

  • 20 teams played this spring in DC Lacrosse Leagues (ages 5-14) that WINNERS started

Beginning this weekend he has put out a couple of bins on our front porch at 17 Newport Street to collect any equipment as long as it is still legal and able to be used by their players (i.e. - if it is a broken pair of shoulder pads - they can't take it). Their kids need to feel safe and confident in the equipment they get so as long as it is still legal and safe - they can take it.  The only other things they cannot take are shoes/cleats and jerseys.

I would love to take you up on your offer to promote his efforts thru the AYL site. We will also most likely be at the 3/16 practice at the Edge so people can bring their items their or get in touch with Saul directly at 781-443-9708 or via e-mail at .
